IMPORTANT: Cash Out in Lieu of Medical

If you are in a SLOCEA represented bargaining unit and a County employee who has opted out of medical coverage and are receiving the cash out benefit, please be aware that misinformation has been communicated regarding continuation of this benefit.

Several employees have been told that that they must have “group” insurance to continue this cash out benefit and that individual insurance or insurance through the Affordable Care Act does not qualify. The MOU for your bargaining unit clearly states otherwise. “Group” insurance is only identified in the MOU for employees that were hired on or after January 1, 2017, who choose to opt out of County-sponsored medical.
