Nate Larsen Assumes the Presidency

In accordance with SLOCEA Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2B, Vice President Nate Larsen has assumed the SLOCEA presidency, effective the date of the vacancy (December 15, 2023).

Emily Landis resigned from the office of SLOCEA President on December 15, 2023, after being hired as SLOCEA’s new Executive Director. Emily has served in SLOCEA leadership since 2015 when she became a Steward, and then joined the Board as a Director in 2016. She has served on many of the SLOCEA committees and was a member of the Big Unit Negotiating Team in 2022. Prior to becoming our new Executive Director, she worked for the County from 2014 and last served as a Program Review Specialist at the Department of Social Services.

We look forward to working closely with Emily utilizing her strong skills, experience, and passion for what SLOCEA stands for in the coming years. She has proven to be a strong and capable leader and voice for the workers of San Luis Obispo County.

Nate Larsen has served in SLOCEA leadership since November 2020, when he became a Steward, and later joined the Board as a Director in September 2021. He has served on many SLOCEA committees and looks forward to advocating for his fellow members in advocating for fair wages and safe workplaces in 2024 and beyond. Nate has worked for the county since 2014, most recently as an Employment Resource Specialist IV as a Benefits Advocate, helping aged and disabled members of our community apply for Social Security benefits and navigate other resources while simultaneously supporting line staff.
