Leann Siebert’s career with the County of San Luis Obispo has spanned over nearly four decades at 38 years. Despite her demanding workload, she recently took the time to share insights about her remarkable career and experiences.

What drew you to work for the County, and how has that passion evolved over time?

I actually started as a custodian in 1984 but after 2 years, I quit for 6 months. San Beck who worked for the Roads Department hired me back. I did that until I got hired to be the meter reader for the Water Systems, which back then was the Engineering Dept. I have been with Water ever since.

Can you tell me briefly what you do in your role with the County?

I work in Utilities for Public Works. Two coworkers and I take care of water distribution from Nacimiento Lake to the San Luis Obispo Water treatment plant.

What do you like most about working for the County of San Luis Obispo?

My coworkers. They are a great crew to work with, and I have worked with a lot of great people over the years.

Looking back over your 38-year career, what accomplishments are you most proud of?

Well, I have worked in three different departments. And I’m the only one that can say that I have worked for all the County water and sewer facilities besides Los Osos Sewer treatment plant.

What is your favorite hobby, activity, or creative outlet?

Hanging out with my family and my dog Pancake. I also like to fish, catch and release, because I don’t like to eat fish.

What’s a fun fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?

I like to dance.

What advice do you have for newer employees of the County?

To work hard and not be lazy, that’s my “old school way” talking.

SLOCEA would like to extend our congratulations to Leann on reaching 38 years in her County career and for her service as a SLOCEA Steward for the past 15 years. We appreciate your continued support and all the amazing work you do for the San Luis Obispo County community!
