Welcome to our New Stewards!

At the April 2023 Board of Directors (BOD) meeting, three new Stewards were appointed! This is great news since our Steward numbers have been reduced due to retirements and promotions. Let me introduce our three new stewards:

Kate McMillan is an adult and teen librarian at the Arroyo Grande branch. Kate began her career with the County in 2016 and has worked at many different branches throughout the county. As a member, Kate has taken an active role in staying engaged with SLOCEA.  and we look forward to this next step two better serve our members that work for the County Libraries.

April Smith is a Nurse Practitioner for Public Health in the Paso Robles office and started her County career in September 2003. April has also been a very active member and has stayed engaged with SLOCEA. We were very happy that April reached out to us with an interest in serving as a Steward since there is no Steward representation in Paso Robles

Allen Dailey works for the Information Technology Department and is an Information Technology Specialist II. This will represent the first time that SLOCEA has had Steward in the IT Department and we are thrilled. Prior to coming to the County Allen was an adjunct part-time college professor where he came to understand firsthand the importance of labor unions. Allen is very excited to be serving in this capacity.

Stewards serve a vital function for SLOCEA and we are so happy to have Kate, April and Alan serving the membership in this way.

If you have been a SLOCEA member for one year and you want to help build a UNITED, INFORMED and INVOLVED membership by serving as a SLOCEA Steward, please contact the SLOCEA office at 805-543-2021. We are seeking Stewards throughout the entire County, especially in departments that do not have Steward representatives.

Theresa Schultz

Theresa Schultz is SLOCEA’s Senior Labor Representative. With over 12 years of labor representation experience, she brings sage counsel, strong advocacy and a wealth of historical knowledge to every member interaction.
