Summer Childcare Reimbursement Program
2025 Summer Childcare Reimbursement Program Guidelines
The Summer Childcare Reimbursement Program is available to employees in the Confidential, Trades & Crafts, Public Services, Clerical and Supervisory bargaining units to assist with summer childcare expenses for children 14 years of age and younger. Reimbursement amounts vary depending on family needs and available funds. Reimbursements are to be used for your choice of approved childcare provider; however, the program does not reimburse expenses for childcare provided by family members.
Important Dates
April 1, 2025 – Application period OPENS.
June 30, 2025 – DEADLINE for applications. Applications received after this date will be placed on a waiting list.
June 1 to August 31, 2025 – Reimbursement period for approved applicants. Claims for childcare expenses outside this time period will not be accepted.
If funds remain, the reimbursement period may be extended on a month-by-month basis beyond August 2025, but shall not exceed December 31, 2025.
Employment Requirements: Applicants must be a permanent employee of the County of San Luis Obispo within one of the following Bargaining Units: (01) Public Services, (05) Supervisory, (13) Clerical, (02) Trades, or (07) Confidential. Additionally, applicants must work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Child Eligibility: Applicants must be the parent or legal guardian of a child under age 14 who has not yet started high school. Special requests for children over 14 years old will be considered on an individual basis, subject to available funding. If a child requires specialized care due to health conditions or special needs, additional financial assistance may be available to help offset costs, determined on a case-by-case basis.
Income Requirement: The household’s gross earnings for 2024 must be below $130,000. Applicants must submit their most recent Federal Tax Return for income verifications. If you have experienced recent financial changes and believe you may qualify, you are encouraged to apply. All submitted information will be kept strictly confidential.
