More Preparations for MOU Negotiations

The contracts for the County’s Public Services, Supervisory, Clerical and Trades units will be expiring on June 30, 2025. In preparation for the upcoming negotiations for successor agreements, SLOCEA is seeking assistance from our members who are in one of the benchmark classifications as noted in the comprehensive BENCHMARK table below.

SLOCEA staff is evaluating various benchmark classifications and we are asking members to assist us in verifying that the comparator agency classifications that the County uses are in fact equivalent in their job duties to those that SLO County employees perform.

This requires that we evaluate the job description for that specific agency’s equivalent classification. Public agencies provide this information on their Human Resources Department websites. Many County employers also use NeoGov so it is similar to navigating SLO County’s HR website.

We are seeking your help in determining if the comparable classification is indeed equivalent and if so, what is the current rate of pay.

Below are the County’s comparable agencies and their corresponding classifications that the County has identified as having equivalent job duties to the benchmark classification of a SLO County Employment/ Resources Specialist (ERS) II.

As an example, in evaluating the job spec for Ventura County, you would click on the online link that SLOCEA will provide for Ventura County and search for the Employment and Training Specialist II classification. Once the job description is located you would read the spec for Ventura County’s Employment and Training Specialist II and determine if the level, scope and complexity of work is equivalent to SLO County’s ERS II job spec.

SLOCEA will provide you with a spreadsheet for your corresponding benchmark classification and all the necessary links and information to evaluate the comparators.

If your job classification is listed as one of the 58 SLOCEA Benchmarks and you are interested in being involved in this project please contact Senior Labor Representative Theresa Schultz at tschultz@slocea.org or at 805-543-2021.
